Subaru Impreza V (2016)

The world premiere of the fifth-generation Subaru Impreza was held at the Motor Show in New York in 2016, where the automaker has brought both sedan and hatchback models of the novelty. Compared to the previous generation vehicle Subaru Impreza of the new generation has acquired a different lighting equipment, as well as modified radiator and bumper grille.

Externally 5th generation Subaru Impreza features a new body designed in “Dynamic & Solid” brand style. In general, the appearance of the model remains recognizable, even its sharp edges are now replaced with more flowing lines.

As for the interior design of the new Impreza V, one may notice that the architecture has remained the same. The steering wheel and the instrument panel are different, design of the front panel and air intakes has also changed, the form of the visor above the center console now “flaunts” with a 6.5-inch screen of the modern infotainment systems with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The basis of the vehicle is laid down on a new modular chassis Subaru Global Platform (SGP), which in future will become the platform of all new Subaru models. This new chassis allowed to increase the rigidity of the body by 70% to and improved energy absorption efficiency in the event of a collision by 40%.

The overall length of the sedan and the hatchback of then new generation Impreza has increased by 41 mm – up to 4625 and 4460 mm respectively. The size of the wheelbase in both Impreza modifications is 2670 mm (25 bigger than that of the predecessor), width – 1777 mm, height – 1455 mm.

The Automaker notes that these innovations in the design of the car have appeared the most prominent in the evolution of Impreza model for the whole time of its existence. Except under the hood nothing radically new has happened. The cars is brought into movement by means of the upgraded 2.0-liter boxer engine with direct injection system and a number of other improvements, due to which its output has increased from 150 to 154 hp.

The dynamic characteristics of the model are not specified. By default Subaru Impreza V is equipped with a proprietary symmetrical all-wheel drive and Lineartronic CVT, imitating seven virtual gears. Additionally the Manufacturer offers a Sport version of Impreza, though t it differs only by the presence of Active Torque Vectoring system, special suspension tuning and 18-inch wheels in the base.

Sales of the 5th generation Subaru Impreza in the United States will start in the autumn of 2016, though prices have not yet been disclosed. At an extra charge one can order adaptive head optics, Harman / Kardon audio system, “assistant” with reverse parking and the EyeSight security systems package which includes adaptive cruise control with automatic braking function and maintain tracking of the “blind” zones.
