The Japanese company Honda has finally revealed to the world a new compact crossover called BR-V, which stands for “Bold Runabout Vehicle“. Its official premiere in the status of pre-series prototype took place in mid-August 2015 at «Gaikindo»  autoshow in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The exterior of Honda BR-V is tailored in a typical for the latest Honda models style, which combines sharp edges with smooth lines. Stylish lighting fixtures, raised bumper, low window-sill line with a kink at the back door, protective body kit in unpainted plastic and 16 inches wheels – the crossover demonstrates its modern and rather “masculine” appearance.

Overall dimensions of the novelty have not yet been announced, but they are expected to be comparable to those of a “donor” Honda Mobilio: length – 4398 mm, width – 1683 mm and distance between the axles – 2652 mm with a clearance of – 185 mm.

The interior concept of Honda BR-V is not known for certain, but most likely it will stylistically resemble the decoration of “Jazz“: a three-spoke steering wheel, laconic “toolbox” and contemporary dashboard with a display panel of the media center and the air conditioning system.  The new SUV will receive a seven-seated layout with three rows of seats.

Honda BR-V is equipped with an atmospheric i-VTEC petrol engine of 1.5-liter volume producing 120 hp and 145 Nm of torque at 4600 rev / min. The engine will be equipped with either a 6-speed “mechanics” or a stepless variator by means of which the entire traction supply will be forwarded to the front wheels.

At the heart of a new crossover lies a platform of Mobilio compact-van. Its front axle with independent suspension is equipped with MacPherson struts and the rear axle architecture is fitted with a semi-independent torsion beam. By default BR-V “flaunts” with automated disc brakes augmented with ventilation on the front wheels, ABD and EBD systems and a steering amplifier.

Honda BR-V crossover will have a sufficiently rich list of equipment – front airbags, VSA stabilization complex, air conditioning system, multimedia center, LED lights and others.

Commercial production of the new SUV is now scheduled for January 2016.
