The Bavarian carmaker BMW in mid-October 2015 has officially declassified its “hot” coupe M2, built on the basis of the two-door model 2-Series. The world debut of the novelty will take place in January 2016 at Detroit auto show, and in March it will appear “live” in front of the European audience at the show in Geneva.

Against the backdrop of the standard version, BMW M2 stands out with a more sporty and daring exterior with bloated “nostrils” of radiator grille, aggressive bumpers, pumped wheel arches and rear diffuser with a “quartet” of pipes of exhaust system. Beautiful wheel disks 19 inches, dressed in tires with dimension of 245/35 R19 in front and 265/35 R19 in the rear make the final contribution to the construction of M-image.

BMW M2 Coupe is slightly bigger than its “civil counterpart”: 4468 mm long, 1854 mm wide and 1410 mm in height. The wheelbase of the car stretches at 2693 mm and the ground clearance is 123 mm fit. The width of front and rear track equals 1579 mm and 1601 mm respectively. However, due to extensive use of aluminum, the “fighting” weight of “the Bavarian” does not exceed 1495-1520 kilos.

Solid front panel, concise dashboard, center console accessories, ergonomics and quality materials – almost everything is familiar from of the basic model. The “top” coupe differs with M-steering wheel, sport seats with dense developed profile and Alcantara door and dashboard trimming.

Rear sofa of “M2 coupe” is molded for two people, like in a standard model, but even those two passengers will feel cramped in all directions. Luggage capacity also has not changed – it equals 390 liters in a standard position.

Under the hood, BMW M2 Coupe has a six-cylinder unit gasoline with in-line configuration, direct feed of fuel to the combustion chamber and a twin scroll turbocharger. At the output it has 370 thoroughbred hp at 6500 rev / min and 465 Nm of peak thrust, implemented at 1400-5560 rev / min. Overboost function allows the engine to briefly give out 500 Nm of torque at 1450-4750 rev / min.

In addition to the six-cylinder unit gasoline BMW M2 Coupe might be equipped with either a 6-speed “mechanics” or a 7-band M DCT “robot” with a pair of clutches. In the first case, the rear-drive coupe accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds, in the second – in 0.2 seconds faster. Top speed is limited to 250 km / h. In the mixed driving conditions, the vehicle consumes an average of 7.9-8.5 liters of gasoline per “hundred”.

European sales of BMW M2 Coupe will begin in spring 2016. The basic version of the BMW M2 Coupe features LED optics, dual-zone climate control, premium sound system, multimedia center with color display, active M-differential in the rear axle and other “benefits of civilization”, responsible for comfort and safety.
